The Road to Bonnaroo, Day 5, Part 1 = Mount Rushmore, SD

A big part of the allure of going the Yellowstone route to Bonnaroo was that it would also make possible a trip to the Black Hills of South Dakota, home to Mount Rushmore National Memorial.  Here's how we spent the first part of the morning of Tuesday, June 9.

On our way to Mount Rushmore from our hotel in Custer, SD, we passed the Crazy Horse Memorial.  See it from the highway, as it's ridiculously expensive.

Rocky Mountain goat!

The main entrance to the memorial.

The sculptor of Mount Rushmore.

Remember, it's chronological order from left to right...

...except that Teddy and Abe are reversed.

On our way to Wind Cave National Park, we passed through Custer State Park, where we saw bison (again!).

These ones looked noticeably different from their Yellowstone counterparts.

Coming up = Wind Cave National Park, South Dakota.
