St. Paul & The Broken Bones (Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival 2014, San Francisco)

In October of this year, my wife and I went up to San Francisco to see St. Paul & The Broken Bones play at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in Golden Gate Park.  Here's our half-day excursion.

A concert in the park calls for a fortified breakfast beforehand, so we went to Farmerbrown near Union Square.

Soul food in the heart of San Francisco.

I had the buffet, featuring chicken and waffles and grits.

Pumpkin moonshine cocktail, in a mason jar.

My wife's dish, which she loved.

High schoolers playing some mean jazz.

We walked across the street to the Mikkeller Bar after.

"I'll have this one."

Festival time.

St. Paul & The Broken Bones took the stage without their singer for a musical warm-up.

Enter Paul Janeway, aka James Brown reincarnated as a nerdy white dude.

Great show by an up-and-coming band.

More excursions coming up soon.
