Photo Nostalgia = Vilnius, Lithuania, 2009

After arriving in Vilnius from Minsk, Belarus, in the wee hours of the morning, my orientation was a bit topsy turvy.

Vilnius University, with a church within

Just happened to be present when a wedding party exited

Still within the university

One of the main streets, looking up towards Gediminas Castle

St. Ann's Church, once the object of Napoleon's envy

View from Gediminas Castle

I'll be honest, I'm not a fan of the Lithuanian flag's color scheme

Vilnius Cathedral

Above one of the theatres in town

Unsure which church this is

Cells within the old KGB building

The infamous Frank Zappa statue

I saw a concert inside of this church (name forgotten), in honor of Vilnius being Europe's Capital of Culture for 2009

Local brew (meaning "lighthouse") at a fantastic restaurant

Orthodox liturgy in a predominantly Catholic country (the church was probably once Catholic as well, judging by the interior)

Near Vilnius University

Detail of a statue overlooking Uzupis District, which half-jokingly declared itself an independent country within Vilnius

Trakai Castle, 20km west of Vilnius = an island fortress
