Toronto Maple Leafs put former Shark forward Mark Bell on waivers

Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Cliff Fletcher announced that forward Mark Bell has been placed on waivers, clearing the way for him to be claimed by another team or the Leafs' affiliate, the Toronto Marlies. Bell is in the second year of his three year, $6.5 million contract. The 28-year old former San Jose Shark had 10 points in 35 games with Toronto last season. He missed over two months recovering from a broken orbital bone... and also had a 15 game suspension on account of some extracurricular activities in 2006.

Interesting piece of trivia = Bell, a 1998 first round draft pick (8th overall), scored his first NHL goal against hall-of-famer-to-be Patrick Roy.
