San Jose Sharks lines for opening night, TOMORROW; minor Jeff Friesen update

According to the San Jose Sharks' website, these are the lines that are expected for tomorrow night's game vs. the Anaheim Ducks:

Patrick Marleau --- Joe Thornton --- Devin Setoguchi [I think it's a stroke of genius to have this be the #1 line - in part because it also allows for a devastating second line (see below), but also because Gooch is a tremendous scorer at such a young age]

Milan Michalek --- Joe Pavelski --- Jonathan Cheechoo [is Little Joe going to be the new Jumbo Joe for Cheech? Or will we see fire from both wings?]

Ryane Clowe --- Jeremy Roenick --- Mike Grier [I'm looking forward to seeing Clowe and J.R. together... we'll need more output from Grier, so hopefully this shakes things up a bit]

Jody Shelley --- Tomas Plihal --- Lukas Kaspar [hopefully Kaspar can add some zing to this fourth line - neither Shelley nor Plihal puts up many points, though Shelley is there to be the enforcer, anyhow]

And on defense:

Marc-Edouard Vlasic --- Rob Blake [veteran lending a helping hand to Pickles' tutelage]

Brad Lukowich --- Dan Boyle [they know each other well, having been teammates together in Tampa]

Douglas Murray --- Christian Ehrhoff [needs no introduction, but rather a reminder that Murray is a champ, and Ehrhoff needs to not make as many mistakes as last year - like icing the puck for no reason in Game 3 of the Semifinals, which essentially led to Dallas' winning goal]

And of course, in goal - Evgeni Nabokov, w/ Brian Boucher as backup.

And then there's this quote from the article:

"There is no change in the status of Jeff Friesen. He remains with the club as a tryout, but other things are in play, such as Marcel Goc's injury."

At least the Sharks know that the fans are desperate for Friesen news - after all, he is the Sharks' third best all-time scorer (behind Patrick Marleau and Owen Nolan). Too bad we're still left hanging in the balance...
