HAHAHA! SABRES BEAT RANGERS - so much for history!

The Buffalo Sabres beat the New York Rangers tonight by the score of 3-1, ending the Blueshirts' winning streak. Scott Gomez got the Blueshirts on the board first (in the first), but a power play goal from Ales Kotalik to tie it followed by two goals by Thomas Vanek (one shorthanded!) gave Buffalo the upper hand. Vanek now sits alone atop the goalscorer stat list, with 5 for the season.

Thus, the Rangers' winning streak comes to an end at their sixth game - and with it, the chance to make franchise history. 5-1-0 still ain't nothing to scoff at, however; the mediocre Eastern Conference is still theirs for the taking (though Pittsburgh and Montreal might have a say in the matter, to say nothing of Washington).

With all of that said, LET'S GO BUFFALO! (except on February 13, when you're hosting the Sharks, natch)
